North Shore Productions is a storytelling company that creates in the medium of place-based linear media, including narrative films, narrative and soundscape audio, linear content for interactive experiences, and immersive film experiences. We also craft long-form documentaries for broadcast and independent distribution. The core of our mission is to build human connection between audiences and our film subjects and their often overlooked stories.

We have partnered with leading cultural institutions and world-renowned exhibit design firms and technologists over the course of our 28-year history in the cultural sector. We bring a collaborative mindset to all of our projects, and indeed we look forward to the collaboration with our client teams for its own sake, as it enriches our work. Our practice is built on listening first and foremost.

As media designers and producers, we are always looking for new ways to connect with audiences, both in form and through content that can bring an unexpected take on a familiar story. We like to break rules where we can. We then rigorously test our ideas to ensure that they’ll deliver in a particular physical space and cultural context.

We are skeptical of technical fads. We work in formats from a couple of minutes to an hour or more, and we often work with our interactive partners to build full interactive experiences around our narrative content. We are always looking for the nuance and revealing details that will break through the barrier of the expected, to gently surprise and create new ways into a narrative for the visitor. Always, we are looking to distill a story to its essence.
